Frequently Asked Questions

May I deduct my donation from my taxes?

The Cystic Fibrosis Relief Fund, Inc. (CFRF) is a 501 c 3 charitable, tax exempt, organization recognized by the State of Minnesota, The Minnesota Attorney General and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Your gift is tax deductible within allowable limits of the IRA tax code. We supply receipts with every donation and mail end of year donation information for your tax filing in January of the following year.

How will my donation be used?

Approximately 90% of donations goes right to the patients who we serve in the form of grocery gift cards. We keep our operating costs low to help make the most of every donation.

Are people with Cystic Fibrosis able use local food pantries?

Not every community has food pantries. Food pantries usually only provide enough food for a few meals each month. Our monthly support provides two to three weeks’ worth of extra food for our recipients. Also, because of digestive issues exclusive to Cystic Fibrosis, food pantries do not always provide foods that are easily digested by people who have Cystic Fibrosis, resulting in stomach upset and the need to take more costly digestive enzymes.

My clinic is not listed. Do you serve other areas?

Presently we are serving patients in Minnesota but through a strategic growth initiative we plan to widen our outreach to the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa & Wisconsin. If you receive treatment at an accredited Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Clinic in one of those states call us at 651-605-1100 to inquire about how we can connect with your clinic to possibly provide services.

Are you part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation?

No, we are an independent nonprofit organization that functions to provide supportive services to people who have cystic fibrosis.

Do people who have Cystic Fibrosis receive food stamps?

Some do but because of the high caloric requirements of people with cystic fibrosis food stamps alone rarely cover their total needs.

How long has the Cystic Fibrosis Relief Fund been in operation?

We were founded under the name of Help One Love One in 2010. In January of 2018 we changed our name to the Cystic Fibrosis Relief Fund to more accurately describe who we are and what we do.
